Press Release: Court Hearing and Demonstration on February 13, 2025 - "Freedom of Assembly is a Fundamental Right: Reviewing the August 2020 Demonstrations"

On February 13, 2025, a court hearing will take place at the Administrative Court of Berlin, spotlighting key events from the summer of 2020:

• August 1, 2020: The dissolution of the assembly "The End of the Pandemic - Day of Freedom" and the occupation of the stage.
• August 29, 2020: Encirclement of demonstrators on Friedrichstrasse and the dissolution of the "Berlin invites Europe" march.
• August 30, 2020: Prohibition and violent dissolution of the QUERDENKEN camp.

These historic days, marked by deep intrusions into the fundamental right of freedom of assembly, are once again the focus of public attention.

Attorney Ralf Ludwig, who represents the legal side of the initiative, comments: "In times when our fundamental rights are challenged under the guise of public safety, the incidents from August 2020 remind us that the right to free speech and assembly must remain inviolable. We cannot allow these rights to be effectively abolished by governmental measures. It is our duty to defend the freedoms of every individual against an overreaching state at all times."

Michael Ballweg, founder of the QUERDENKEN-711 initiative, further explains: "The hearing on February 13, 2025, marks a crucial moment in our ongoing commitment to truth and justice. It shows that we have not stopped working on the events of those days even after more than four years. Now is the time to make a strong statement: for freedom, democracy, and the defense of our fundamental rights. I call on everyone who was part of these historic days to come to Berlin and show their support."
